The Marshall
“The Marshall” was born and raised Marshall Morton Jr In Harlem NY he grew up in a family full of experienced musicians and singers. At the age 13 Marshall chose music over running in the streets.Marshall discovered his producing ability when he noticed he could play the piano by ear. He would listen to songs on the radio and then imitate them on the piano. Marshall took his producing very seriously when he started High School; he began to get involved with the school band. He played many different instruments such as the Cornet, Baritone Horn, the French horn, Piano and Keyboard. Marshall was reluctant to start out working off of a Korg01/W Workstation with no prior knowledge of this keyboard or how to program it. Through trial and error Marshall mastered the art of making a beat.He developed a dynamic style of making his signature southern tracks on the Sony Sound Forge 7 and FL Studio 6, and Reasons. Marshall is inspired by well-known producers such as Dr. Dre, DJ Quick, Quincy Jones, the Hit-Men Badboy Production team) and D-Dot. In 2007 Marshall worked on side of Cicely “Cece” Vance as a personal assistant for Vance Nycc Multimedia.As well as video editor for The Source Magazine.
